Come shvitz with us! We’re teaming up with The Yard Sauna Village for a one-of-a-kind communal evening of Yiddish heymish hygge! On this chilly winter night, warm your body and soul with unlimited sauna sessions and live Yiddish & Eastern European folk music from Red Thread, featured visiting artists Ira Khonen Temple (NY) and Zoë Aqua (CO), and Soul Trouvère.
Plan Your Experience:
- Sauna Bliss: Relax and recharge in the saunas as often as you’d like during the event. Bring your bathing suit, towel, a pair of sandals, and a robe, if desired, for extra comfort in the sauna village between sessions. Indoor changing rooms and free lockers are available for your convenience.
- Music & Schmooze Under the Stars: Between sauna sessions, keep toasty in the sauna village’s outdoor communal space by roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, or dancing to live music. Robes are encouraged for extra comfort on the patio between sauna sessions, but you should also wear warm clothes to enjoy the live music on the patio for an extended period of time.

After the Sauna – More Music Across the Street

About the Performers:
As a performing duo, vocalist/accordionist Ira Khonen Temple (NY) and fiddler Zoë Aqua (CO) reimagine klezmer music for today and beyond. Ira’s original songs, including new singable translations, serve as a doorway between past, present, and possible futures, crafting a politically fresh, relevant, and un-nostalgic vision of Jewish culture. Zoë’s compositions draw on influences from klezmer, Transylvanian music, Hasidic melodies, and lautarească, offering a meditative exploration of the dialogue between Jewish and non-Jewish musical traditions in Eastern Europe. Together, they create a soundscape that is deeply rooted yet innovative, celebrating the evolving nature of this rich cultural heritage.
Soul Trouvère is a Minneapolis duo performing original and folk music from the Straits of Magellan to the Caspian Sea. A founding member of the New Orleans band the Zydepunks, Juan Küffner rocks the accordion and sings in more languages than you can shake a stick at. Colleen Bertsch is a violinist who studied and performed music in the Transylvanian countryside, and is a co-founder of the Minneapolis Balkan party band Orkestar Bez Ime.
Red Thread, fronted by songwriter and folklorist Sarah Larsson, is a harmony-forward ensemble playing original & traditional music rooted in Eastern European, Yiddish, and Americana lineage. With the tight harmonies of a family band and lush, innovative instrumentation, the ensemble shares traditional and new music with warmth and humor.
