Gefilthy Fish Cabaret
Hosted by the Bagel Sisters (Or Levinson and rafa kern), this cabaret is a celebration of Yiddishkayt in the Twin Cities - from traditional Yiddish folksongs and klezmer melodies to experimental new works, comedy, burlesque, and beyond. This is a space of free expression, where performers draw on their unique perspectives, artistic processes, and relationships with the complexities of Yiddish culture. | $10-20 at the door; NOTAFLOF
Headliner Concert: FORSHPIL with Di Bayke
Forshpil re-energizes traditional Yiddish songs, nigunim, and klezmer tunes with modern rhythms, harmonies and instruments. Age-old songs of love and despair induce themselves with psychedelic rock, funk, jazz and other addictive substances. Deeply rooted in tradition, this unlikely fusion feels weirdly authentic. Synopsis: A wedding cameraman falls in love with the clarinet player at a Jewish wedding in Argentina and makes up a documentary about klezmer music to spend time with her.

Lea Kalisch & JEWBALAYA kick off the festival with a 2-act night of JEWcy entertainment. Lea Kalisch gives tradition a facelift, offering a fresh and zesty take on Yiddishkayt. JEWBALAYA is a shmaltzy stew, equal parts New Orleans Jazz and Klezmer.
